We [love] Semilong!

Members of Semilong Community Forum are proud to live in the area, and we know that many more people feel the same. At the Semilong Sunday Social day last autumn, our friends from The Fishmarket brought along a badge making kit and had designed for us an “I [love] Semilong” retro button badge. They were very popular on the day and those of us who have been wearing them since have received lots of positive comments.

In fact, so popular are the badges that we are producing a lot of 500 which will soon be available in Semilong Post Office... for free!

Update from Castle Wards Safer Community Team

Crime in Northampton is down 1.9%. Castle Ward has seen some good reductions since April, for example; Sexual offences are down 62%, Kerb-Crawling is classed a sexual offence so this figure demonstrates some of the good work being done in the area.

We have just set three new priorities that will take us into the new year, some familiar ones make an appearance, but as demonstrated by crime figures, the tactics seem to be working.

Below is an update of the work we have been doing on our three community priorities:

  1. Tackling Street prostitution in Spring Boroughs

Letter from our chair

Hello and Happy New Year (ish!) to you all!
It has been a while since our last Semilong News, so I hope this one will be both informative and entertaining.

The forum has had another busy year and we have continued to work with local authorities and other groups within the area to try and improve our environment in Semilong.

Semilong Neighbourhood Watch

Like everywhere, Semilong has its incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour. However, it is important to take as many steps as possible to ensure that not only ourselves, our families and our property do not become victims of crime, but also that our neighbours are safe and their property is safe too.

Neighbourhood Watch is recognised by the Police to prevent crime. Consequently insurance companies often give discounts to those in an active Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
